The Turner Prize

I'd just like to point out that I predicated that Susan Philipsz would win the Turner Prize, and she has done so on the 6th of December! I'm very pleased that Philipsz won the prize, I really liked her piece. Even though the piece was different in the way that it wasn’t a painting or a sculpture, but a piece of sound, you could still understand the message she was putting across. You could feel the loss of someone was hurting her and the pain. Well done Susan Philipsz, I'm very happy for you! Even though I know your not reading this!!!! Oh well.

Three French Hens, Two Turtle Doves and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!

So on Friday I had to go to the photocopier and photocopy some of my drawings I did on Thursday and also some of my objects I brought in. After this we had to cut into the photocopies to create shapes and then we were told to stick them down onto paper to create a silhouette. This sounds a simple task, but it stumped me somehow. I dont really know why I was stuck, I think its like what I've mentioned before on my blog, that I seem something as a final piece, and I freeze as I want it to be good. I need to relax, but that’s one the hardest things for me to do! Below are some pictures of my silhouettes I made.

They are okay, don’t really know what I was doing. I had some good objects and drawings to create some good silhouettes but some reason I wasn’t placing them very well. Oh well!
In the afternoon we had to cut into the silhouettes to work into 3D, this was okay I think I was in the Friday mood and wasn’t really into it anymore. I tired, see the pictures below!

Below is one picture of a 3D piece I have made, its almost like a tunnel. It didn’t photograph very well unfortunately. It was an alright piece, wasn’t the best but also wasn’t the worst thing I've ever done!

Below are some pictures of a quick 3D model I made at the very end of the end. I quite liked it, not much to say really, but I quite liked this quick big 3D model.

But then I'm confused, as at the beginning of this week we were looking at our themes for this project mine being Migration of food, but then we have started looking at form. I know this project is more fashion based but I can't really see this 3D sculpture above, being placed on the body. I'm puzzled. Hopefully tomorrow everything will be sorted out!

Two Turtle Doves, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!

Thursday was the second of December, hence the Two Turtle Doves! So today I got on the tube with my box of fruit which I had sewn through and everything! The looks I got on the tube I tell you, couldn’t of been better if I'd asked! People peering into my box, thinking what is this girl doing! Well its all in the name of art, I tell you! When I got to college I found that we didn’t even use our objects, so we were drawing figures not installations. This was quite nice for a change, as installations do get a bit boring, but honestly I'd struggled in the snow and everything! Oh well!!!
So today was all about drawing figures, so in our group of 8 we had to take it in turns to dress up in clothing, each others coats and scarf’s, in different ways then draw them! This was really good fun! However my drawing was a bit doggy at the beginning, but then I got warmed up and some of them turned out okay!
We weren’t really drawing the body in ways you would in life drawing, we had to draw the silhouette, then take an aspect of the clothes and draw in three times across the body. It was quite good, I liked drawing in the different ways and styles. But boy was I tired after a day of drawing, but the day was great! Below are some pictures of the figures I had to draw!!!!!!!!!!!!

Below are pictures of Jo dressed up and looking lovely!

Below are pictures of me dressed up, thought I'd pass out!

Below are pictures of Linda dressed!

Below are pictures of Sayaa dressed up!

Below is a picture of Andrew dressed up, with a bird box on his back!

Today was a really good day I thought! By the end of the day I had some good drawings which I was pleased with!!!! YAY!!!

1ST OF DECEMBER

HAPPY ADVENT EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only 25 days till the big red fella visit’s people and 17 days till I get to see my family!!!! CANT WAIT, as you can see!!!
Anyhoo, on Wednesday my fruit was half dry so I decided to just make an installation anyway and draw it! I really enjoyed it this, as I really love drawing, it allows me to go into a little world full of enjoyment and I love it!!! So I ended filling a whole sketch book off Mondays and Wednesdays drawings!!! Very pleased with myself! Also did all of my washing whilst drawing!!! I quite liked my installation also so it was all good!!! You can see images of my installation below!!!

These are pictures of my installation I made with my fruit which I have manipulated in my own way by sewing through them!!!! I liked my installation and this idea!!!! Will be interesting taking them on the tube tomorrow!!! I went off to Wimbledon in the afternoon, to pick up my cousins from school as their nanny was ill! They are mental but I love them!! Another good day I think!!!

My Jam Packed Tuesday!!!!

On Tuesday 30th November I had a full day of things to do!!! BUSY BUSY! I started the day by continuing with deconstructing some pieces of fruit, I opened up and cut open some tomatoes, an apple and a banana! It sounds messy however it wasn’t that bad as the fruit I chose stayed together when I cut them open, I had fun! Then I sewed though them, it was good! I then covered them in PVA glue as I thought this would maybe keep them for longer, it has but they are slowly 'dyeing'! Below are some pictures of my fruit which I have cut open!!!

Below are pictures of the tomatoe I cut up, I really like these ones, the tomatoe photographed really well!

Below are pictures of my banana, the banana looks really good here however it is really brown and disgusting now! YUCK!

Below are my photos of my apple, however it didn’t photograph very well, or its just my photography skills, but I still like my apple!

So once I had sewed through all my fruit I covered them in PVA glue and left them to dry! So then I could draw them on Wednesday once they were dry!!!
After this I went over to the Barbican to see the exhibition '30 Years of Japanese Fashion'! This was amazing I thought, as I was expecting lots of kimonos to be there, however I couldn’t of been more wrong! It was amazing!! There designs of the overflowing dresses with bulges and folds. It was incredible!
Some of the designs I really liked were by Koji Tatsuno, the Autumn and Winter collection of 1993. The dress was made of Golden Brown Nylon net and was created by sewing layers of nylon net into spirals and combining the small circles into larger units. This I thought was just incredible!
I also really liked the dresses by Junya Watanabe, as they looked like honeycomb with its construction. The colours they were made in blues, yellows and reds I loved! I also really liked Watanabe's clothes and hats that were designed to be waterproof, the catwalk shows was shown on film and in the middle of the catwalk there was tones of water coming down which showed how the designs could and are waterproof! This I thought was great!!!!
Designs by Mint Designs, 'Trash, Slash and Flash' I also really enjoyed looking at. The Autumn Winter 2008 collection showed clothes with shredded paper and envelopes all over them. This I thought showed humour which I really liked!
I really enjoyed this exhibition, I thought it was really different I've never seen anything like this before and I loved every second of time!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

After the Barbican I went and saw my Dad as he brought my Wellies up from home! Then we went and saw an exhibition near his work, at the Riflemarker. It was amazing, there was a  room which had little square lights which changed colour. But then you placed your finger on the light it then started flashing the speed of your pulse going though your finger. This was just amazing. Then if you placed one finger on one square then another finger on a different one, they linked some how and turned the same colour. So my right hand started off as blue and my left hand a red, after a second they both turned blue. It was amazing! This connection also worked if you held hands. So I held hands with my Dad, he placed his left finger on a green light, I placed my right finger on a orange light, after a second they both become orange. I cant describe how cool this was, just brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This pulsating LED installation was created by Jamie Zigelbaum and Marcelo Coelho and they were the winners of the Designers of the Future award. Its at the Riflemarker, beak street, regent street! Its definitely worth a look!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are some pictures below of these amazing lights!

We then went to a few other exhibitions, round here but nothing really caught my eye like this one did! Oh well!!! It was a very good day, very productive!!! It was lovely to see my Dad! Only 18 days till I can my Mum, Brother and Sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!

MIGRATE- day one!!!!!!!!

Today we started the topic migrate, was a funny day as only 20 people where in due to a tube strike! We spent most of the day creating our installations, we had to manipulate our objects quite alot in almost a intercut way, with thought and detail put into it. My theme I'm going with for this project is the migration of  fruit to the UK! So I brought in some Oranges, Bananas, Apples and Lemons! I started wrapping the fruit in string and train tickets, but then this needed some work I thought so I started opening the fruit and sewing on that which I really like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was quite pleased with my installation today! Then in the afternoon IO started drawing, which I really liked, I LOVE DRAWING, its one of my favourite things to do, the time passes by when drawing I feel, but its so tiring! I'm shattered now!!! I was really pleased with my drawings today! Really enjoyed it!
I had a really good day and cant wait to continue tomorrow! I'm going to manipulate more fruit tomorrow, some tomatoes, carrots, apple peelings, put them in PVA then stitch then draw! It should be quite a good day hopefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Below are some pictures of my installation that I took! Hope you like them!!!

Here are some of my orange pictures! I really like them!!!!!

My Banana pictures, they are disgusting to look at! But I quite like them, tomorrow I think I will stitch in to the fruit of the banana! Could be interesting!

My giraffe wrapped up, I think I need to work on this a bit more tomorrow!!

My cut up giraffe! This upset me! Oh well! Tomorrow I will turn it inside out tomorrow completely and sew it back together! Could be interesting!!

My Apple, tomorrow I will spilt this open and into chunks then stitch in them then draw them! Should be good!!

I really enjoyed today and am looking forward to tomorrow hopefully!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!
