More Wall Drawings

So my blogger account was being funny and it would let me post this on Monday so hopefully it will do today.
I had a big drawing with part of the face painted in duck egg blue, which I really liked. However it felt unfinished so I added some more colour to the piece. I painted more of the face and the hair but in different colours, a light yellow, light pink and a lavender. This made the piece more interesting and its looks finished now, not incomplete. It looks more like a Textile print now I feel. Please see the pictures below.

Above is the finished piece, once I added more colour to it other then just the blue. I think the colours work well with each other and I'm pleased with it. The only thing that did go wrong was the colour eye. However I quite like it being blocked out. To begin with I painted it yellow but that didnt look right so I went over with the purple and that works better!

Below is a drawing I did of a a women sitting with hair curlers in the hairdressers. The drawing isnt my favourite, but thats the whole point of the close up continous line drawings, you dont know how its going to turn out.

However then I added colour to the drawing, and I think its too blocky. The bright yellow and the green is a bit ugly I think. However I like the purple lips. Its an experiement, but I prefer the first one I did.

Below is a piece I did yesterday. Its my favourite one so far. The drawing I really love and the paint I've used so far works really well. I left it yesterday as I was pleased with it and didnt want to ruin it. I think I'll more colour to it, slowly as I really like this final piece and I think it will work well against my odd-bods.

Pictures please work, please upload onto my blog please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BIG DRAWINGS!!!!

So today I went BIG! My drawings have been completmented throughout this foundation and from this I wanted to incorporate it in my FMP somehow. At the begining of the FMP I did quite a bit of drawing which I really enjoyed. But then I stopped and focused on fabric manipulations and my oddbods so my drawing took a back seat for a while, and I didnt want this. So I've picked it up again, as its strong so it should be shown I feel.
To do this instead of doing little drawings I wanted to showcase that I can draw, and also one of the main points I did a foundation was to be stretched to my full ability so drawing BIG and straight to the wall does this.
Today I have drawn straight to the wall on lining paper. This has been great as it allowed me the space and the scale to draw, and it gave me a sense of freedom which I really really loved! However one thing with drawing on lining paper, yes it gives me a long canvas, but the width isnt very thick. So it made the faces I was drawing long and thin, whereas drawing straight which I might to for the exhibtion would give me both a long canvas and the width which wouldnt make my drawings so thin.
But actually I like the style of the faces being thin, I know I've said this before but it gives a rawness to my drawings which I really really enjoy!!
I'm quite to happy to have some of these drawings I've done today as my final pieces for this project against the odd bods I've made, definately agasint the afro comb with the blonde hair wrapped around it and also my bun holder with the red hair weaved through it.

Please see the photos below to see what I'm talking about!!!

Below is one of my favourite drawings, I like the hair and the bottom detailing of the scarf also. I think the scale has worked well and proportion is there but in my style of drawing which I think looks good. Belows photos are close-ups of the drawings above!!

I loved this drawing shown below, I liked the placement of the curlers on her head, again I liked the detailing of her clothing below, it shows she's in a salon having her hair done, with the cloth on her shoulders. However I then went on to ruin the drawing by adding pieces of random pattened colour, see the photos below.

You can see below in the photo how I mean I've ruined the drawing, by sticking on really bright pieces of patterened paper which was meant to be old style 60's patterned wallpaper, however the colours are to bright for this to be shown across I think. Also the placement of the blocks of colour really doesnt work either. So I'm cross with myself for doing this as I really liked the drawing before hand!!!

Again with this drawing below I also ruined it as I did a checkered pattern on the drawing which I didnt like, so I stuck some paper on top but it really doesnt look good either. I added two pieces of patterned paper on to the drawing then stopped because I didnt think it was worth using the paper on a drawing I already didnt like. Oh well.

This drawing below I really like, however unfortunately the photograph isnt very good! Oh well I still like the drawing!! Then I thought it needed some colour so I painted on some duck egg blue colour as you can see below!

As you can see the duck egg blue is shown below, however I didnt like it as I thought it was too blocky as it was just in the middle of the drawing. The sample I did in my sketch book looked better as the paint was on the head and the hair. So I went back to it and added the colour in the hair which I think looks better! See the picture below!

See it looks better!!!!

Below is a drawing of a hair style, however I did it on the sewing machine instead of with pen! It looks good I think! It was difficult to tell how much paper I had left so the scale of the face is different to normal however I think this looks great! I especially like the nose! The one thing thats strange on this piece is that the tension kept going funny on the drawing as the paper was so big it was tugging and pulling so the tension was never equall. However I really like this espect of the drawing!! YAY!!! See what you think with the pictures below!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm pleased with my progress today!!!! YAY!!!!!

Drawing to the Wall!!

As I have said before in my FMP I wanted to include drawing in my orject, as its one of my strongest skills I feel. However apart from the begining of this project when I drew quite a bit, I drifted from doing drawing for a bit and concenstrated on doing my fabric pieces and my oddbods.
So I have decided to do some more drawing, as you can see in my previous blog post. However the drawings before I feel should have been done on a bigger scale, as they were'nt even the size of A1. So over the weekend I am going to to some bigger drawings on my wallpaper. I am going to do them bigger then A1 and go the size of a wall I think. I will also draw on the sewing machine this size, which could be a challenge but I'm willing to give it ago.
Now that I am trying to draw bigger I thought I'd go straight to wall with a drawing today. I brought some black electrical tape and drew it. I drew an image of a hair model wearing a wig, as shown on a previous post. This drawing is good as I found it really difficult, drawing on a big scale as you cant see exactly what you are doing, so I had to step back quite a few times to check it was looking as good as I wanted it to be. I was pleased with this drawing, however the electrical tape I bought was to thick so I cut it down the middle to make it thinner, so in some places it's thicker then others. Over the weekend I will have a look for thinner tape. I drew with tape today as for the exhibtion Michelle would like me to draw with pen straight to the wall, so today with the tape it was to make me feel more confident in my ability's. It helped I think, so hopefully it will go to plan.
Please see my photo's below of my drawing in the process of being drawn. Also at the bottom there is a photo showing the scale of my drawing with a chair next to it, showing how large it actually is.
I'm really pleased, so hopefully when I find thinner tape I will be even more pleased!!!!

I like how the electrical tape looks like a pen mark as its solid and strong but really it is tape!!! YAY!!!!
